Yeehhaaa Cowboy

I recently watched the film 3:10 to Yuma, with Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. I really liked the landscapes and characters so it really inspired me to draw some cowboy characters. This is the only one I have done so far. He is an older fella, who lives in the snowy mountains. I used a red pencil to sketch it up then Coloured him up using only adobe illustrator. I'm really happy with the outcome as it doesn't look too vectorish considering it was done in illustrator.

Hey loong time since I last updated my blog! I have no job but keeping busy!

I gave myself a little project of creating a poster full of my favourite characters/films.

Here is a little bit of the process I went through. I first drew the charcters on paper, then went over them using Illustrator as it has a very nice line. I then used Photoshop for textures, shadows, etc.

I'm very pleased with how it came out! Hopefully people can identify the characters. If not I'll post them after the picture.

E4 Sting

I thought I would enter an idea in for the E4 sting competition this year.

The one idea I had, which I didn't end up using was based on the dating app 'Tinder'. Instead of seeing people though, I had animal characters pop up. The hand would keep swiping left (Which is No) until it reached E4.

Here's the characters for the app.

 A pugg

and a sloth.

The idea I eventually went with was based on the Zoetrope. I had this quick idea of making it really old school, a bit like a silent film. And as the animation quickens up, the colour comes back to make it a little bit more modern.

First of all I animated the E4 icon doing a simple jump using Adobe flash. Using the 12 steps I then laid them out on the circle that I used to be my Zoetrope.

I made a little box then so you can only see one E4.

I used Adobe After Effects to do the animation, and this is what it looks like.

It's been a while

Hello pawb! I haven't posted anything for a while because I have been working!!! Got a job at the end of March working in Landooon as a background artist on the Mr Bean cartoon series. Really enjoying it, great experience working on a series and also living in London.

I have been keeping up drawing, but normally their just little doodles in work or watching TV.

Epic lab time t shirts!!!

This is for underwater scene. I used a gradient layer and then added watercolour textures for the effect.

Here's an arctic scene. Really like the colour palette for this scene, keeping to greens and blues

Little sketches while working

In work today I had a bit of time to spare and since I haven't been drawing much since University I took the time to do a couple of random sketches. In all honesty I thought it would be worse but I actually like the characters, especially the old short woman.

Post uni work

Hey! So I've finished Uni, what have I been doing now? Well...I have work. I have 3 weeks worth of work doing the layout and graphics in a book for a training company called Portal. Besides that I wanted to keep up my drawing so I've been working on a little illustration. Since being in Uni I've been drinking in The Mochyn Du pub in Cardiff. Now I've moved home I am unable to go there so I've designed a little drawing to send them as a thankyou for all the 6 nations games, lions games and drunken times. It's a welsh pub, so I've drawn the welsh dragon having a pint with a Mochyn du (Black Pig)

So that is it....

Thats University finished! Handed in all the work I have produced over the last 4 months! Mixed feelings. Relief is a bit part, but also very sad knowing I wont be studying in University anymore.

I am very happy with everything I handed in. I could've changed a few things but there's always things you could improve on. I know I've worked hard so can't take anything away from that. I was a bit worried about the personal project as my life drawing isnt't as good as it shoul dbe, but the whole point of the project was to improve my drawing skills. I'm happy how it looked in the end once I made it look more like a personal reflective diary. Collaboration I really liked, the projects were really fun, especially the superhero and Lurchers project. just have to enjoy the time off I get off now before I start being an unemployed animator/illustrator.
